Waste of money - BIG TIME!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
In a few days, months or years it will break (because it wasn't made to last) and if you think you have '10 year warrany' - think twice! The warranty is PARTS ONLY! So, you'll have to hire a tech to diagnose it (~$200) then they'll send you a replacement part (AT YOUR EXPENSE!) and then you have to hire a tech again, and he'll evacuate the refrigerant, do the repairs, vacuum purge the unit and recharge it (with all 'bells and whistles' that will cost you AT LEAST another $600 - $800). So, you'll get a $50 or $100 part 'for free', and you'll have to pay out of your pocket over $1000 - half of the price of the unit or more, and there'n no promise that something won't break again in a week and you'll have to pay all over! So, better burn your money - at least you won't feel bad about a lousy heat pump manufacturer laughing all the way to the bank with your money. Also, I found that their website is quite interesting in terms of posting reviews. All the reviews there a boasting about 'quality', 'out of this world warranty' and 'overwhelming number of 'happy customers'. There's one problem - YOU can't post your review there! So, I wouldn't be surprised if these reviews are fake or 'carefully selected' to fool people.

No help from manufacturer whatsoever

My unit from 2006 has leaked out it's refrigerant and must be fixed. It was installed in 2008 and is using R22 refrigerant which is soon no longer produced or imported.

This is causing the price of R-22 to skyrocket, and currently is at about $100/lb. I just wanted to know if my unit can use a much cheaper common replacement called R407C.

First I tried to use their form to ask the question but got no answer. Then I tried to chat but the chat representative was clueless saying they have no technical knowledge and to just call a technician. I have tried their phone number (877) 254 **** now several times and it simply does not work.

Unbelievably bad customer service. I'd stay away from Goodman in the future, that's for sure.

Warrenty not covered

I have installed 5 units in properties I own. I was told that the parts warranty was ten years. I was just told the since I did not register it units , the warrenty is not covered. The Goodman authorized repairman tried to get the $215 part covered since it was less then ten years old. They refused to cover the part. I either have a 10 year warrenty or I don’t. I guess I don’t.

Goodman heat pump new but broke down constantly

Bought a goodman package unit heat pump 18 months ago. This winter its broken down several time s. Installer made several calls but cant seem to fix it. Called goodman for some technical help and was told that they only talke techs if i was a professional repairer. My repairer doesnt want to call them, says there is only 1 or 2 people to service the whole east coast. Beware buying goodman unless you want to be without heat a lot....

Won’t honor their warranty

Installer failed to record 10-yr warranty with Goodman, and is now out of business. The model number recorded on the bill of sale was thought to be a combined serial number; evidently it is not. Case number assigned 103****.

Heatpump not working properly

I bought a Goodman Heatpump back in 2014, March.. I have sent you complaints before.. It has had leaks after leaks.. My installer i think had those fixed.. Now another problem has lifted its ugly head.. During the day, Hottest part.. It stops working until around 7 that night.. The compressure will not come on, but the inside fan still blowing cause it is calling for compressure to come on.. I have had trouble with this unit ever since i bought it.. I would love to hear ur excuse why its not working.. I would rather have another unit.. This one is not worth a .....! Please get back in touch with me... Bobby Bowman.. 205-335-****. I should not be having having this trouble with a new unit...

Not concerned with customers

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Considered installing Goodman A/C condenser & cased coil. Was in business, now retired. Called tech. support for advise and was bluntly instructed Goodman will NOT talk to anyone if they're not "authorized Goodman installers/repairers". I will never consider or recommend Goodman to any of my contacts in the trade. I warn anyone buying A/C, run from any contractor who wants to sell you Goodman products. I've worked on A/C units for 104,000 sq. ft. shop. Twin 75 ton compressors hooked to monster chillers. I've dealt with innumerable tech. support departments, including multi-million dollar industrial lasers and heat treat equipment. Never have I received such rude treatment. Goodman Mfg. is, in my opinion, not a reputable company.

Goodman Heat Pump Low Voltage Short

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I purchased 8 Goodman 2 Ton Electric Heat Pumps for rental property. Don't ever buy Goodman products! Developed low voltage wire short that kept blowing the 3 Amp fuse in the air handler. Several Hundred dollars later in labor costs we determined it was faulty wiring from the factory. Goodman ran the low voltage wires right along the freon copper pipe which caused the insulation to wear out exposing the wire and shorting out. Goodman would not own up to the problem and cover my labor expenses even after being notified of the problem being on their end. If anyone wants to join me in a class action lawsuit please let me know as I am looking to engage with a law firm about eh defective product.

Goodman Furnace = Turd

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

November 2016, we purchased a furnace. Said furnace arrived the first week of December.

We performed the install the second week of December. February 3, 2017 - ICM went bad. I know there will be some *** who will try to make me look foolish for installing this myself. You are entitled to those troll-esque comments and lifestyle of protecting an industry that overcharges for install.

I know I installed it right and in fact would go as far to say did it better than most of those octopus looking jobs I see performed by so called "professionals." I have to now purchase a 65$ part to fix what is essentially a brand new furnace... SWEET! This is typical; Ignition Control Modules go bad on A LOT of these furnaces within the first year but since I installed it, this is not covered. I spoke to the people I bought it from and they denied selling junk but I calmly pointed out why it was junk and thanked them for their time.

If you are being enticed to purchase one of these units, STOP.

Save yourself the headache. I hope this helps.

C'mon, you really thought anything would be covered if you installed it yourself. Besides, according to you installation costs are overinflated, so what does it matter if you have to spend another $65 -- aren't you still saving way more than if you'd had them install it?

And by the way, if you're handy enough to install a furnace yourself, presumably you're intelligent enough to do your homework before you purchase. When 221 out of 456 (yes, that's 48%) customers say they are "very unsatisfied" with their Goodman furnace, that ought to tell you something.

UNHAPPY and FREEZING for the 4th year

I never thought I would be so disappointed in a company. Failure to meet the consumers needs and ignoring the fact that I was taken advantage by the repair service provider. Never contacted me to assist with my issue and to date I still am not able to afford a new system that stopped working under warranty. I would never recommend Goodman products. Cheap and easy to break. Which company lets customers go through 4 winters with no heat!! I have no A/C for the summer and I contacted the company and no response. Why put a warranty in place if you are not going to honor it? Especially knowing the units failed after 1 year.

Goodman mfg furnace and ac

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
my furnace and ac where installed 23 years ago. since then I have only had minor problems that I expected. I replaced about 5 ignitors in which I broke one, 3 exhaust blower motors. my ac has never given me problems knock on wood. I have to replace my furnace because the heat exchanger has a crack, my luck 3 years after warranty. I called one goodman dealer and he tried to talk me into a coleman furnace. called a goodman distributor and they gave me 3 different prices, then each time told me I needed to show my hvac certificate, then my license and insurance card. BS price went up 300 dollars but I went online ordered my new goodman furnace and we will be installing it as soon as it get's here.I can't complain, we had one warranty which was taken care of. i'm sticking with goodman.
