In 2008 we purchased a Amana Goodman heating n a/c unit from Gilmore Heating n Air in Placerville Ca. were told at the time it was the "top of the line energy efficient unit (like a Mercedes is next to a Kia)." Right from the get go when it was installed we had problems it would not work so Gilmore the seller bought us a cord of wood to keep us warm because we had no heat other than our fireplace.

Finally after many service calls they found out that the manufacturer had installed a valve/piston in backwards. From then on all we have had is problems with the unit either the heat didn't work or the a/c didn't cool it has been a constant headache. And on 6/30/2015 the a/c went out again. Since then we have had 3 different tech out.We have been told now that we need to have our compressor and condenser replaced @ the total of $3,000.

We bought this in good faith that this unit would last us much longer than what it has being we are both retired. We have the documentation on this fiasco they call top of the line. Amana/Goodman n they just say well the warranty is up but how can a reputable company say that when all we have endured with this unit is on going problems from day one! Beware of Goodman they do not n will NOT STAND behind their product once you have purchased their mrechandise they will turn their back on you.

This unit was not any good from the start n what did they do anything they could to hold on to the money we had already given them. They are about the almighty dollar nothing more nothing less.

Go elsewhere there are many reputable companies out there .........THIS COMPANY IS NOT REPUTABLE N IN MY EYES WILL NEVER BE THEY ARE TOO BIG FOR THEIR BRITCHES- they have simply forgot the most important rule IT IS THE CUSTOMER WHO PUTS THE BREAD ON YOUR TABLE.

Reason of review: Defective unit right from the start.

Monetary Loss: $3000.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Goodman Manufacturing Cons: Do not stand by their products they sell, Buyer beware.

It's not the equipment - it's the installer

NO..... it was not the installer they did everything they could to get it going. Goodman the manufacturer put the 'piston/valve' in backwards now how can that be the installers fault????

If the valve was in the indoor unit then it can be the installer fault. Before install all coils from Goodman are pressured with nitrogen, this has to be let out so the liquid line can be bolted to unit and suction line can be brazed.

From factory theres a hex nut fallowed by a plastic cap, piston and a Teflon ring seal. Removing the plastic cap can make the piston fall out and if not put back in the right direction will cause the unit to fail. it is very easy if you are not watching what you are doing or DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING to get it wrong. With that even said on unit start up pressures would not have been correct as the refrigerant was not being metered properly and they should have noticed something was wrong from the start.

So yes the piston as far as the indoor unit goes was the installers fault. they wont admit that so of course they will blame Goodman
