I bought a Goodman furnace and AC three years years ago based on price and warranty. It never really worked well from the start.

I've had the original installer out twice and another company out twice. Yea, Goodman will replace a part, but after one year, labor is not covered. Most recently, the coil on the outside condenser unit failed and all the refrigerant leaked out. They would not replace the entire unit which would have been cheaper for me.

Instead they replaced only the coil and the unit had to be completely disassembled to install it (read $$$ Labor). After four service calls with two different companies, I have spent a ton on labor for repairs. I would have been better off paying the price for a Trane, Lennox, or Carrier, from the start. Stay away from these folks.

If you rely on their warranty, you WILL get burned. Atlanta, GA

Location: Sunnyvale, California

LISTEN HOW LOUD A GOODMAN IS COMPARED TO OTHERS. KNOW WHY? THE COMPRESSOR COMPANY MAKES A CHEAPER COMPRESSOR JUST FOR GOODMAN...

Goodman is without a doubt the worst equipment I have ever installed. Ah yes let me introduce myself.

I have installed hvac equipment for over 13 years. Every brand. From 2008-****, our company installed 66 goodman/Amana residential heat pumps.

We have done 95 major repairs on these units (as of 8/2014) most of these in the 2-3 year range.

The repairs were of the worst type, reversing valves , coils, thermal expansion valves, compressors.

The amount of refrigerant repairs that these units sustained no doubt reduced the life of the compressors.

I am not sure what goodman is good at, but is sure isn't hvac manufacture.

I have a Goodman gas furnace and it is 8 years old. I has required parts to be replaced from the first year and each year after that.

Their warranty doesn't hold water.

I have spent over 1500.00 in parts and service calls in 8 years. I am replacing this piece of junk with a decent Rheem unit that I can rely on when I need heat and not worry that it might blow another control panel every 3 months.l

Don't believe this ***. Carrier has more coil leaks than any manufacturer.

My family all have goodman and Amanda furnaces and ac's and have had zero service or reliability issues... Good installation and proper equipment sizing is critical. Hire a good contractor to install and you will get a great result. Also goodman is only manufacturer who factory backs extended warranties.

All others use third party insurance companies.

Don't buy non factory backed insurance they go belly up and your out of luck when they do.

I called Amana to replace my ols water to air heatpump and got Goodman!! AMANA is built and owned by Goodman

"The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of cheap price is forgotten."

You buy a cheap product, you get cheap results. You get what you pay for, simple as that. Next time, buy equipment from a reputable brand (American Standard, Carrier) and buy the extended warranty so you won't have to worry about labor costs either.

I HATE our Goodman A/C system. We have a dual zone now and the original furnace/coil (not goodman) is a tank and is now supporting the entire house.

The new "all goodman" system is 6 years old and the coil was rusted through and was replaced yesterday. Since it still won't work, the condenser unit outside is now on the fritz and needs to be replaced. It has to be a manufacture defect because the outside condenser for the original system was replaced at the same time with the same Goodman ***.....and that is somehow still working....for now. Our system only has a 5 year warrantee and of course it's been 6 years.

Customer service didn't give a *** and were rude. Our HVAC guy said Goodman products are mediocre at best. Typical cheap contractor product. The casing is flimsy and I am very bitter about this.

We will now have replaced pretty much the entire second zone system and its costing thousands!

Go with a better brand and pay more.....your going to end up paying double if you don't! :(

THE EQUIPMENT WAS NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY FROM THE START. AC UNITS AND FURNACES ALL HAVE THE SAME BASIC COMPONENTS.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE INSTALL. OF COURSE, ANYTHING MECHANICAL CAN AND WILL FAIL IN TIME, HOWEVER IF IT'S INSTALLED PROPERLY, IE; SIZING, DUCT WORK RETURNS, ETC... THE UNIT WILL PERFORM AS DESIGNED. MY GUESS IS THAT IT WAS NOT SIZED RIGHT FROM THE START.

GOODMAN HAS 50% OF THE MARKET. THERE IS A REASON FOR THAT.....

I used to think that also. Until is saw goodman reversing valves springing leaks left and right and coils and discharge lines from the compressor. Best install in the world doesn't make up for cheap parts.

How do you install it so the reversing valve doesn't leak?

If it was not for Goodman every other manufacturer would still have a one year warranty on all parts. Goodman forced the industry first to a five year warranty, then after everyone else saw the daylight they went to a five yr.

warranty. Goodman then went to a 10yr. warranty and guess what?

the big bucks had to follow.

40 yrs. in the HVAC business and it still comes down to the installer and service tech.

Exactly!!! Funny how we see a lot of the same stuff inside the cabinet with such different results. Shop your installer more than your brand!

You made cheap and poor choices, but it's always somebody elses fault. So you blame it on Goodman.

Standard Goodman Warranties are 5 years all parts. Registered it's 10 years. Standard contractor labor warranties are only one year. I *** had chosen a GoodCare dealer and purchased the Extended Parts and Labor warranty, you would not Whining your fool head off !

! !

It's nobodys fault but yours, Mr.

or Mrs. CHEAPO.

I love all the schills out there pimping up Goodman, here's a fact, buy a Goodman and you will know what regret is in no time.

There's a reason this companies primary means of marketing is through unlawful spamming.

I have several Goodman units in rentals where they get lots of use and abuse. Haven't had any problems with the Goodman products or installations.

Guest

to anonguy what was you doing inside the compressor, & Goodman dosent make caps.

Guest

I have been in the HVAC buss for 59 years. The cond was fine it was the installer, your problem was the installer, Read your warranty before you buy not after, A good service tech would have fixed it right the first time, if you would have bought a 14 or 16 seer unit you would hav had a UNIT replacement warranty Sincerly Dennis

Guest

i guess to those of you people with problems hire better quality contractors Sounds like to me they are blaming goodman to cover their *** install job.they probably are only getting there microns sucked down to maybe 400.i bought a state of the art tez8 vacum pump and suck all my ac units down to under 100 microns and flow nitrogen through lineset when i braze.VERY FEW DO THIS CAUSE OF EXPENSE.I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH MY EQUIPMENT.BEST ON THE MARKET RIGHT NOW.I fix everybody elses junk though.90% of the time its because of the installer

Guest

Believe it or not most of equipment failure is do to proper installiion.

i've had a goodman air conditioner/furnace for 2 yrs. I opened up the evaporator to check on the coil and noticed strange corrosion where the smaller capillaries connect.

It looks like some kind of galvanic corrosion issue, a design flaw , like an incompatible contact between metals of coil and frame.

For work I regularly service carrier heat pumps at commercial buildings that sometimes have never been cleaned in 30yrs. they still run and the coils don't have the kind of corrosion that i see on this junk.
